SHOPPING THE STASH

L-R Natural Collection Eyeshadow Duo, Seventeen Metallic Cream Eyeshadow, Maybelline Colour Tattoo
REAL TECHNIQUES STIPPLING BRUSH // BEAUTY UK POSH POLISH IN ANTIQUE CHIC // NATURAL COLLECTION EYESHADOW DUO IN LATTE-MOCHA // SEVENTEEN METALLIC CREAM EYESHADOW IN WILD NUDE // MAYBELLINE COLOUR TATTOO IN PERMANENT TAUPE

I've always thought of 'shopping your stash' as something reserved for those girls with stacks of Muji-filled drawers. But after clearing out my room, I'm sure even us with the smallest of makeup collections have forgotten makeup gems lying around. There's really nothing better than finding abandoned makeup; it's new, probably in your colour/shade and you haven't spent anything. What more could you want? Here are a few of my rediscoveries:

I've haven't been able to shut up about brushes recently (see my post about them here), so when I found this I couldn't have been happier. I forgot how much I love the finish given by stippling brushes. It takes a little while, so it's best reserved for special occasions, but it gives such a high-coverage, airbrushed finish; i'll definitely be keeping it in my collection from now-on. I was thrilled about finding this Beauty UK polish too, a gorgeous glitter with different sized holographic speckles; a beautiful topcoat for any colour, 'nuff said.

Maybelline colour tattoos are so praised by the beauty community I couldn't believe it when I discovered I already owned one. I'm not sure what possessed me to buy this colour (easily the worst out of the shade range and it looks terrible on me), but the formula is incredible. It's seriously long-lasting and helps the staying-power of any eyeshadow applied on top. This shade remains untouched for now; but I'm definitely picking one up in another shade (maybe pink nude or etneral gold) next time I'm in Boots. The Seventeen cream eyeshadow is more mousse-like than the maybelline, it's a gorgeous colour but the formula is a little too creamy. It's lovely applied over a primer though; one of those 'one-sweep wonder' bronzes that are perfect when you're in a rush. This Natural Collection duo is probably one of the first pieces of makeup I've ever bought (is it gross that I still own it?), and I still think the £1.99 price tag is worth it. While the white is a little chalky, the brown is super soft and blendable; great in the eyebrows and in the crease to darken an everyday look.

Have you ever 'shopped your stash' and found some hidden gems?
