Left to Right: MUA Shade 7, Rimmel Kate Moss in Shade 16, TopShop Brighton Rock and Sleek True Colour in Candy Cane

I'm sure anyone who reads beauty blogs will have unearthed some strange urges for products they would have otherwise never have looked twice at before. (Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm anyone? Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder?) Before I dived into the world of beauty blogging (about three years ago now) I never thought lipstick shades went beyond the realms of reds and nudes. Now, I'm drawn to oranges, purples, but most notably pinks. Here's my little collection:

I always forget how gorgeous this colour is, I really need to wear it more. The formula is amazing for a high-street lipstick (and especially for a quid), it's so creamy and pigmented, I'd definitely liken it to a MAC Cremesheen with a Frost finish. It's ideal for someone (like me) who has uber dry lips, as it won't cling to any dry patches and you don't need to apply lip balm beforehand. If i had to pick a fault, I'd say that it is perhaps too soft and is prone to melting in high temperatures and can smear over the lips, but that's nothing a little lipliner/blotting can't fix. I need to stop walking past the MUA stand without a second glance, these lipsticks are fantastic, and for the price you can afford to be more adventurous with shades you wouldn't normally go for.  Perfect.
Rimmel Kate Moss Shade 16 - £5.49
My night-out lipstick. It goes well with every kind of makeup look, cat-eye, smokey, bronzy, you name it. I love it because sometimes (especially on nights out where pictures are involved) nude lipsticks can wash you out, but this packs much more of a punch. I've mentioned in my previous lipstick posts (nudes, here and reds, here) how much I adore these Kate Moss lipsticks by Rimmel, I can't fault them. The normal formula (black tube) is gorgeous, leaves a nice sheen, but is not so glossy that it slides around. I can't say enough good things about these lippies, I need them in every single shade immediately.

TopShop Brighton Rock - £8.00
Beautiful colour, a sort of milky fuchsia. I haven't worn this as much as I should considering how much I adore it. It looks perfect teamed with cat-eye eyeliner flicks, loads of leather and studs. (I think I'm a biker chic at heart) The formula is matte, so can be a little drying but it does last ages on nights out and won't smudge all over your face. I don't think I'd ever be without this, it's ideal for jazzing up any all-black outfits (which happens wayy to often to me). Maybe once I've found the perfect outfit I'll have more confidence walking around in such a bright colour.

Sleek Candy Cane - £4.99
I bought this on a whim, and I'll be honest, I've never worn it outside of the house (don't tell me I'm the only one who experiments with outrageous makeup looks when home alone) I'm far too scared. I think it's a little too bright for my complexion and I fear I'll look too much like a lady of the night. That said, it is the most pigmented lipstick I have ever come across, as well as being super moisturising too. Sleek's colour range is a bit too 'out there' for my tastes, but if you're in to vibrant, glossy colours these lipsticks are for you. Plus, they're a total bargain. Win!

What are your fail safe pinks?

  1. I get what you mean by trying out products you'd never imagine of wearing, for me it's pretty much any lip colour other than pink and nudes! I really like the MUA one you got there, I can't believe I've never seen it in Superdrug before!
