LIZ EARLE CLEANSE & POLISH VS. SUPERDRUG HOT CLOTH CLEANSER

Top: Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser, Bottom: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polis

LIZ EARLE CLEANSE AND POLISH // SUPERDRUG VITAMIN E HOT CLOTH CLEANSER

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish has been my holy grail cleanser for about three/four years now – I’ve been through countless bottles and I can’t imagine cleansing my skin with anything in else. It’s simple, quick, easy and gentle. (I’m quite fond – can you tell?). I know it’s not the most expensive of skincare products (especially when you consider a tub of Emma Hardie can set you back £40), but it’s not dirt cheap and I’m always up for an opportunity to save some pennies. So when I saw this Superdrug cleanser on sale for £2.99 (RRP: £4.99) I snapped it up, as I haven’t seen a high-street hot cloth cleanser before. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this too compare to my signature Cleanse & Polish but I’m really pleasantly surprised...

As you can see the product is a little ‘grittier’ in texture and is a little heavier than Liz Earle, which I think makes it feel a little less luxurious – but I’m willing to overlook this if the product is good. It is worth nothing that because the product is heavier, it is more moisturising, which I love, my skin feels hydrated, plumped and looks smoother (however those with oiler skins may feel differently). That aside, I find it to be very similar to Cleanse and Polish, leaving my skin feeling bright, refreshed and helps with any trouble areas (acne/dry patches).

However, it’s not fantastic when it comes to actual makeup removal. This isn’t really a problem for me, as I use this as the third step in my triple cleansing routine (after face wipes and a micellar water), though I understand that this may be an issue for some.  Also, I’ve noticed that this product is less sensitive around the eye area and after a few weeks of use I’ve noticed that my eyes have become extremely dry. Nothing major – but it’s worth mentioning.

So? Which do I prefer more? I can’t believe the amount of (quality) product you get for your price – this tube is twice the size of Cleanse and Polish; and after a quick look at the ingredients in each; they’re practically identical. While I love Cleanse and Polish and I can never see myself being without a tube – the Superdrug is an incredible dupe for those days when there’s a little too much month at the end of your student loan ;)

Have you tried any of Superdrug’s Vitamin E range? What did you think?

  1. I haven't tried the Superdrug hot cloth cleanser, but I have tried the Boots no7 one. If you say that the ingredients are similar, I can't believe it- what a good dupe! xx

    1. Me too!! I reckon if we all did loads of research on dupes there would be almost no need in buying high end products...

    1. Thank you. Liz Earle isn't crazy expensive in terms of what most popular beauty bloggers use, but I think that it's always worth finding a dupe - right?

    1. Aww that's a shame, I think the website might ship worldwide & it's always worth checking on eBay, Amazon & FeelUnique :) I can't imagine you're lacking in quality skincare in France though - French pharmacies are famous worldwide for their stuff - I'm very jealous!!

  7. Definitely a win for the drugstore! Or rather high street as you guys in England call it. Sounds like an excellent cleanser to try out. Too bad it's not available in Australia though...

  9. I will have to try this as I've been looking for a dupe for my beloved cleanse and polish! I tried the No7 offering and it broke me out so I've kind of been sticking to Liz Earle but I think I will have to try the Superdrug one, it sounds just as good! x

    1. Oooh I've been looking for the No7 one, I love a high street hot cloth cleanser. I don't think anything will ever really beat Liz Earle in my eyes, but times when I really need to save the pennies (like now!), the Superdrug dupe is perfect :)
